Race 7: No.11 Savagery Vibe
The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is high-flying after three starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Brutal mare came off consecutive minor placings when she put it all together and took out a BM70 Hcp, here over 1200m.
Ryan Maloney settled her back in the field before putting her into the race on the turn, then finished best to claim victory on the line.
Drawn gate seven here, she maps to settle better than mid-field and has Maloney steering the ship again.
At her peak, fourth-up here, she only needs a trouble-free run to be a major contender for the big prize in this contest.
Race 9: No.3 Battlefield
The locally-trained galloper is in top-shelf form after three starts this preparation and on his home track again, looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Deep Field gelding was third-up and showed further improvement when he clobbered a Class 6 field, here over 1400m with Jai Williams in the saddle.
Drawn wide in barrier eight (of nine), she settled near last before weaving through traffic in the run home where she found the front and went on to put two lengths on them over the line.
Drawn well in gate six, she maps to settle in the back half of the field with Jace McMurray as the new pilot.
A winner when fourth-up last campaign and a track specialist with three wins here already, the five-year-old will take beating in this contest.
Race 10. No.3 Slippin’ Jimmy
The David Vandyke-trained galloper is second-up here and looks well placed to figure in the finish of this event at odds.
Last start, the Pariah gelding resumed after six months off the scene and impressed when finishing third in a BM85, here over 1200m.
Jasper Franklin settled him back in the field and while spotting the leaders a big start, finished strongly, arriving in time to claim the minor prize, beaten just a length on the line.
Drawn well in gate six here, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Corey Sutherland on board for his first ride on the five-year-old.
Already a winner when second-up, given a smooth run in transit here, he can figure in the finish and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
