Race 2: No.2 Fancy Red
The Adam Durrant-trained galloper is in sensational form and on a seven-day back-up, looks the one to beat in this contest.
Last start, the Sessions mare came off a third-up win when she finished a close-up second in a Rating 66+, here over 1600m.
From gate nine (of 12), Holly Nottle pushed forward and settled the mare outside the leader before taking control in the run home and looked the goods but was run down late in the peace, beaten a neck on the line by one better on the day.
Drawn the outside gate here, she maps to push forward again and settle near the speed in the small field with William Pike back as the regular rider, having ridden the mare in all but one of her 14 starts.
With a trouble-free run, the four-year-old stands out in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Amaroo Star
Unbeaten in three starts this preparation, the Simon Miller-trained galloper is jumping through the grades well and looks the one to beat again in this event.
Last start, the Sessions gelding brought-up the hat-trick when he took out a Rating 72+, here over the 1000m sprint.
William Pike backed-up again for the ride and had the gelding parked just behind the speed before crossing off their heels on the turn, then finishing best to get the job done.
From gate six today, he maps to settle better than mid-field with Pike at the helm again for this assignment.
Already winning six of his seven starts at Ascot, he is clearly a track specialist and yet to taste defeat this time in, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.3 Dominatus
Trevor Andrews saddles-up Dominatus here who is second-up and looks set to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Ducimus colt resumed off a 14-week spell and did well to beat all but one home in the Listed Challenge Stakes, here over 1500m.
William Pike had the reins and settled the colt mid-field with cover before scouting wide on the turn, then finding clean air, he ran home strongly and arrived in time to claim the silver medal, beaten a lip on the line.
Meeting similar company here, he draws well in gate two and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence with Pike steering the ship again.
Fitter for that first-up run, he meets similar company here and already a track and trip winner, he will take beating in this contest.
