Race 3: No.9 Ready For The Trip
The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is high-flying at the moment and ticks enough here to suggest the hat-trick is on the cards in this event.
Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding made it back-to-back wins (on this track) when he took out a BM65, here over 1600m with Ryan Maloney backing-up for the ride.
Settling two pairs back, he fanned wide on the turn and had too many guns for them in the run home.
The five-year-old steps-up to BM70 company here and faces the 1800m trip for the first time as well with Maloney sticking with him.
From gate seven, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and in winning form, he looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 5: No.7 Last Chance Saloon
The Team Geran-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks all set to bring up the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Maurice gelding made it back-to-back victories when he clobbered his rivals in a Class 4 Hcp over 1300m at Toowoomba.
Settling near mid-field, he travelled well to the turn before taking over inside the final 150m, then put a space on them as he crossed the line more than three lengths clear in the end.
He backs-up here seven days later where he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle better than mid-field with new pilot Cody Collis taking the reins for this assignment.
He steps-up to Class 4 competition here but drops 6.5kgs after the claim, putting him right into winning calculations.
Already a winner at the track, he can figure in the finish of this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Give Giggles
The Tony Gollan-trained mare has been a model of consistency this preparation and ticks all boxes here that suggest she will take catching again in this event.
Last start, the War Decree mare recorded win number six when she easily accounted for a Class 6 contest, here over 1200m with regular stable rider Angela Jones in the saddle.
Sitting outside the leader to the turn, she took over inside the final 250m and cruised to victory, putting almost two lengths on them over the line.
Ideally drawn in gate three here, the six-year-old maps to settle in the first four again and has Ben Thompson as the new pilot for this assignment.
Already a track specialist, boasting two wins and a minor placing from three starts at the track and trip, surely just bad luck can keep her from going back-to-back in this contest.
