Race 3: No.3 Fabulantes
The Robert Heathcote-trained galloper is in great touch of late and looks well placed here for another win in this event.
Last start, the Star Turn gelding was shooting for his fourth-straight win when he stepped-up in grade and finished fifth in the Listed Daybreak Lover over 1400m at Eagle Farm.
After drawing wide in gate 12 (of 16), he settled back in the field and in the run home, spotted them too much start, finishing 4.5 lengths from the winner.
Far better served at the gates here, he jumps from barrier four and maps to settle in the first half of the 15-strong field with visiting rider Zac Purton in the saddle.
Unbeaten in two starts at the track and trip, a clear run to the line should see him hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.10 Give Giggles
The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is second-up here and looks set to make his Doomben debut a winning one in this event.
Last start, the War Decree mare resumed off a 13-week spell and impressed when taking out a BM85 over 1000m at Eagle Farm.
With Ben Thompson aboard for his fourth ride on the mare, she was box-seating on settling and tracked the leaders to the turn, before coming off heels and finished best to grab the big prize right on the line.
Stepping-up to Listed company here, she draws ideally in gate two and maps to be slipstreaming the leaders again with Thompson remaining aboard.
Already a two-time winner when second-up, a trouble-free run here should see her there at the finish and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 8: No.12 Grafterburners
Kelly Schweida saddles-up Grafterburners here who is second-up and ticks all the box that suggest he will take beating in the big race of the day.
Last start, the Graff colt resumed off a 13-week spell and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint over 1200m at Randwick.
Box-seating to the turn, he was held-up most of the way home and while no match for the talented winner (Tempted), still did well to finish just over a length from victory on the day.
Taking on Group 1 company now, he returns to Doomben where he boasts success at the track previously and from gate seven, maps to settle better than mid-field with Hong Kong’s premier rider Zac Purton in the saddle for this assignment.
Fitter for that first-up run and already a two-time winner when second-up, avoiding trouble here can see the three-year-old a winning chance in this contest.
