Race 4: No.3 Rosso Levanto
The David Vandyke-trained galloper is second-up here and looks ideally placed for back-to-back victories in this event.
Last start, the Tarzino mare resumed off a 10-week spell and impressed when she took out a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Eagle Farm.
Corey Sutherland settled her mid-field to the turn before scoring a dream split as they turned and in the run home, hit the line strongly, arriving in time to grab the gold medal in the last stride.
Stepping-up to the 1650m here, she gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling and after steering her to victory last preparation, Jag Guthmann-Chester returns for the riding duties in this assignment.
Already a winner at the distance and placed twice in two previous second-up appearances, the six-year-old looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 5: No.8 Sarah’s Sonnets
The Team Sears-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and looks every chance of making it four-straight podium finishes in this event.
Last start, the Castelvecchio mare claimed her third career win when she clobbered her rivals in a BM68 Hcp over 2233m at the Gold Coast.
Fred Larson settled her back near the tail of the field, one off the fence until nearing the turn where she tracked wide to improve then in the run home, joined and headed the leader inside the final 200m and ran away to score by almost two lengths on the line, with plenty to spare.
Facing Class 3 company here, she draws barrier eight and maps to cross and settle back in the field again with Mark Du Plessis as the new pilot.
Fourth-up and at her peak, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.8 La Profecia
Tony Gollan saddles-up La Profecia here who is in good touch this preparation and looks well placed to give this event a real shake at odds.
Last start, the Divine Prophet gelding came off his maiden win and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM0-58 over 1350m at Ipswich.
Drawn the fence that day, Leah Martyn drove him straight to the lead at barrier rise where he set a good tempo to the turn until he was swamped by many challenges and in the run home did a mighty job to battle on and finish just behind the placegetters.
Facing Class 1 company here, he draws gate one again and maps to lead them here where Emily Lang takes over the riding duties.
Dropping back to the 1200m could be a blessing if left alone in front and at his peak here, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
