Cranbourne Racing Tips for August 5 – Pressurised hard to beat after last start placing at Caulfield

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of six for the day from around Australia that we are previewing in our midweek racing tips.

Pressurised looks set to chalk up the second win of his career when he steps out in Race 4. The former West Australian has had three starts since coming over and was solid at Pakenhame when resuming over the 2000m before doing a few things wrong in a Saturday race at Flemington over the 2520m when dropping out of it. But he was excellent in harder company than this last time at Caulfield over the 2500m when leading and sticking on for 3rd at massive odds behind Our Chief. The four-year-old went 2.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark in his most recent run, which is nearly nine lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner, while he went seven lengths faster at Flemington. He will stride across to settle in the first few and will take plenty of beating at the business end. 

This looks to be a suitable assignment for Ataegina. The seven-year-old narrowly missed out at Bendigo two starts ago when second up, flashing late to go down in a photo behind Omnic. She then tackled a BenchMark 78 on Finals Day on Flemington but was too fired up, racing keenly when 9th behind Changing Colours. The Luke Oliver mare comes back to her home trip and drops to the 1400m, where she is two from three in her career, while she draws to enjoy an economical run from barrier 4.
