The five-year-old sat patiently in second place, five lengths behind the tearaway leader to the turn, then in the run home, gradually ate into the deficit before gaining the upper hand over the final 50 metres to by almost half a length on the line.

He has placed twice in two third-up appearances previously and now fitter for those two runs back, should go on with it from here.

The Chris Waller-trained galloper resumed on Saturday after 18 weeks in the paddock and turned plenty of heads when finishing second in this event.

Siena Grima settled him last of the 11 runners to the turn and still seeing all of them inside the final 200m, he crossed heels and stormed home to grab the runner-up cheque on the line.

The Written Tycoon five-year-old is already a winner when second-up and looks well worth following for the remainder of this preparation.

The first emergency for this event gained a start after scratchings and first-up after a 15-week spell, caught the eye with a dominant win in the last of the day.

Sent out an $11 chance (in from $17), Reece Jones settled her near the tail of the field, ten lengths off the speed to the turn, then sticking to the inside, weaved through weakening traffic to secure a run inside the final 100m where she finished over the top of them and cross the lien a length clear in the end.

With that win behind her, she will now be looking for a little further and fitter for that run, looks set for further victories in this campaign.
