Bendigo Racing Tips for October 4 – Zoo to Dazzle in Race 3 at Bendigo

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.

Dispatches can go close in the opener at Bendigo. The Dom Sutton-trained galloper has had just the one career start, settling on speed at Sandown on September 9 before being held up when gaining momentum around the bend. He lost valuable ground at a crucial stage, with the race turning into a sit-and-sprint from that point, leaving him flat-footed before finishing a well-beaten fourth. The form out of that race has held up quite well, with winner Regal Ambition going on to claim a Listed race at Caulfield at his next start, while the runner-up has since won a maiden in dominant fashion. Dispatches will be better for the experience and should strip fitter, while he draws ideally in barrier two. The three-year-old is by Gun Runner, whose progeny have made a promising start on Heavy tracks, and he represents value at the quote.

Zoo Dazzler should be hard to beat in Race 3. The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained filly has had just two career starts, battling on debut at Randwick earlier this year in the Pierro Plate before resuming at Caulfield last month with a promising third over 1100m behind Handee. She settled midfield on that occasion and kept coming to finish just over two lengths from the winner. The daughter of Zoustar had trialled well on a Soft track leading into that performance and comes into this with the fitness benefit. This is an easier maiden than what she faced last time, Michael Dee rides and should land in the running line from barrier six. Expect her to be hard to hold out at the business end.
