Belmont tracing takes place on Saturday, September 7, with a 9-race program set down for the Belmont track.
- Race 2: No.4 Master Tactician
- Race 4: No.2 Keep Attacking
- Race 5: No.4 Deferred
- Race 7: No.2 Sentimental Belle
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Belmont racecourse.
Race 2: No.4 Master Tactician
The Neville Parnham-trained Master Tactician is in career-best form this time in and looks set to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Rommel gelding made it four-straight podium finishes when he clobbered them in a Class 3, here over the 1650m trip.
Laqdar Ramoly had the reins that day and from the outside gate (10), settled him last, but the gelding showed a great turn-of-foot in the run home where he set the best splits for the race on his way to a 1.5 length win in the end.
He draws wide again in barrier eight (of nine) here but will settle back in the field again with Parnham’s son, Brad back in the saddle where he has enjoyed previous success with the four-year-old.
Now a winner at the track and high-flying this preparation, he looks a serious contender at good odds in this contest.
Race 4: No.2 Keep Attacking
The Team Williams-trained Keep Attacking ticks all boxes here and now four starts into this campaign, looks every chance of taking out this event.
Last start, the Snippetson gelding bounced back from an unplaced run, here on a Heavy 9 when he came from behind to grab third prize on a firmer Soft 5, here over 1200m.
With Clint Johnston-Porter in the saddle that day, he was trapped wide most of the way, hampering his efforts to win the race where he still finished within two lengths of the winner after a hard run.
He has so much going for him here with William Pike returning to steer the ship after already tasting success with the six-year-old.
Already a two-time winner at the track, he gets the gun-run from gate one where Pike has him mapped to settle in the box-seat, right behind the leaders.
Surely just bad luck beats him in this contest.
Race 5: No.4 Deferred
Simon Miller saddles-up Deferred here who is in outstanding form this time in and will take beating in this event.
Last start, the Epaulette mare was unbeaten in three starts this preparation when her run came to an end, finishing third in a BM66, here over 1400m.
With Chris Parnham aboard, she settled back in the field and despite the wide run and Heavy 9 conditions, she still got to the line in time to grab third prize, beaten less than a length.
Parnham sticks with her for this assignment and the forecast Soft 5 looks ideal as she is two from two in the conditions.
Already a three-time winner (from four starts) at the track, her resume is glowing here and a forward showing is expected in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Sentimental Belle
Another from the Team Williams stable is Sentimental Belle who also ticks all the boxes here and looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Nicconi mare made it seven top-three finishes from her eight starts this preparation when she finished third in a BM72, here over 1300m.
She had no luck in the run home, being held up several times before finally seeing daylight and under William Pike, finished well enough to grab that minor prize.
Pike, who boasts a 30% success rate for the stable, has ridden the five-year-old to all five career-wins to date and sticks with her for this assignment.
Everything points to another victory for the mare in this contest.
