Race 7: No.3 Mt Shirataku
The Team Williams-trained galloper is second-up here and after impressing when first-up, looks set to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Australian-sired gelding resumed after six months off the scene and caught the eye when beating all but one home in Heat 1 of the Westspeed Platinum Series, here over 1200m.
Doing it tough, he settled third, three-deep without cover to the turn before chasing the leader hard all the way home and grabbed the front, only to be nosed out of the money by a late swooper on the line, covering the extra ground cost him dearly that day.
Drawn much better here in gate four, he maps to settle on or near the speed with Lucy Fiore backing-up for the ride.
Already a winner when second-up and fitter for that first-up effort, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.2 Herault
Jason Miller saddles-up Herault here who is unbeaten in two starts back and looks set to claim the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Gingerbread Man gelding came off a first-up Class 1 win at Northam when he franked that effort by stepping-up sharply in grade and taking out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m with William Pike aboard on both occasions.
Settling second, outside the leader without cover, Pike nursed him to the turn before asking him for a final effort where he obliged and soon after took control, going on to score a soft victory in the higher graded race.
Stepping-up to the 1600m trip here, he has gate 14 to deal with where he maps to cross and settle near mid-field in the 16-strong event.
Pike calls the shots again for this assignment and if he can overcome the wide draw, he should still take a ton of beating in this contest.
Race 9: No.7 Bakeel
The Team Williams-trained galloper has been knocking on the door at his past few starts and after four runs back, should now be ready to stake a claim for victory in this event.
Last start, the American-bred gelding came close to victory again when he beat all but one to the line in a Rating 72+, here over 1600m.
Manoel Nunes was aboard that day and settled the gelding two pairs back one off the fence with the perfect sit to the turn before coming off heels and in the run home, put in the big ones only to be bobbed out of a win in a blanket finish, still claiming the silver medal for the race.
The stable remove the blinkers here and replace them with winkers for the first time.
Clint Johnson-Porter is the new pilot for this assignment and from gate four, he maps to settle him in the first half-dozen.
Stepping-up to Rating 78+ company the five-year-old drops 3kgs from his last start and at his peak here, looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
