Caulfield Racing Tips for May 30 – Exciting import to go on with the job in Race 6

Caulfield racing takes place on Saturday, May 30, with a program set down for Caulfield.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of the major metropolitan meetings we are previewing in our Saturday tips.

Race 6 No.11- Simurgh


Simurgh can make it back to back wins when he steps out in Race 6. The imported galloper has had two starts in Australia for an eye-catcher at Pakenham is a solid form race over the 1600m before thriving when getting out to the 2000m at Caulfield a few weeks ago, winning well from Almairac, while there was a solid gap back to 3rd. The Hayes galloper went a very healthy 12 lengths faster than standard benchmark and will strip fitter, while he has attracted a heap of support in the early betting after drawing perfectly in barrier 3. 

Race 8 No.3- Recommendation


This might be the one for Recommendation to break a drought that stretches to nearly two years. The six-year-old has been competitive since then without winning and has placed on a couple of occasions in Group company. He was posted wide no cover when 3rd behind Spywire at Ballarat in the $300,000 Country Discovery (1100m) when resuming before tackling the John Hawkes Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville at his most recent start and placing 6th behind Grand Larceny. He was again posted out and looked in contention with 200m to go before just tiring late. The Ciaron Maher galloper draws to enjoy a better run in this race and likes Caulfield. He was a four length improver on benchmark figures at this stage of his last preparation when 3rd in the Group 3 John Monash Stakes (1100m) and will be in it for a long way. 

Race 9 No.4- Royal Insignia


Best Value comes up in the final race of the day and it is Royal Insignia that can go close at the each-way quote. The Grahame Begg-trained galloper has been a bit of a firmer since acceptances and trialled well in the lead up to his return but could only manage 7th in the $200,000 Wagga Plate (1200m). He usually needs a run to get going and has improved more than nine lengths on benchmark figures when second up at his last two preparations, which include a fast finishing 4th in the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington in the most recent of those. Tempo looks solid in this, which will suit and with Caulfield always a chance to suit the swoopers late in the day, he is one to be on at the odds.
