Race 2: No.6 Mai Aloha
The Team Williams-trained galloper is in pristine form this time in and third-up here, looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Long Leaf mare came off a first-up win when she beat all but one home in a Class 5 Hcp, here over 1000m.
Regular rider William Pike settled her in the back half of the field to the turn where he tracked wide looking for clean air and in the run home, finished strongly but was out-bobbed right on the line, taking out second prize in the race.
Third-up here, she steps-up to the 1200m which looks more suitable for her at this stage and from the outside gate (9), maps to push forward and settle near mid-field with Pike in charge again.
Fitter for two runs back and already a winner at Belmont, she looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 4: No.13 God’s Grin
Team Pearce saddle-up God’s Grin here who is in great touch this preparation and ticks the right boxes that suggest she can give this event a real shake at odds.
Last start, the Playing God mare was third-up when she took out a No Metro Wins-Last Year Hcp, here over 1600m.
Perfectly ridden by Holly Nottle, the mare was box-seating from barrier rise to the turn, before securing a split halfway home where she darted through, took the lead and hung on to score.
Drawn in gate six here, she maps to be in the first half-dozen on settling with Nottle in the saddle again for this assignment.
Fourth-up and at her peak, the four-year-old well placed here and a ticket on both totes is recommended in this contest.
Race 8: No.15 Urquharts Bluff
Down in the weights here, the Paul Jordan-trained galloper is on a seven-day back-up and looks set for another podium finish in this event.
Last start, the Sessions gelding bounced back to winning form when he took out a Rating 66+ Hcp, here over 1400m.
On a Heavy 8 that day, he crossed and took-up the front running then set a fair pace before picking up the tempo in the run home where he held them all at bay, going on to score an impressive barrier-to-box win.
Stepping-up in grade here, he drops in weight and from barrier eight maps to push forward and settle in the first half-dozen with regular rider Lisa Staples steering the ship again.
Already a track and distance winner, the four-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
