Locally-trained by Trevor Andrews, All The King’s Men is second-up here and looks set for further improvement in this event.
Last start, the King’s Troop gelding resumed after more than 18 months off the scene and with just two trials since, managed to finish on the podium, claiming third prize in a BM78, here over 1200m.
Settling back in the field, he made up good ground in the run home where the 1200m was never going to suit and crossed the line just 1.5 lengths behind the winner that day.
He steps-up to the 1400m here which ideal for him as Jarrad Noske steers the ship for the first time.
Nicely drawn in gate three, he maps to settle mid-field with cover and should have a clean crack at them in the run home.
Already a two-time winner in Listed company and has won second-up previously, he looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.
Race 7: No.14 Storyville
The Team Williams-trained Storyville has collected the cash twice in four starts this preparation and with most boxes ticked here, looks a solid chance of back-to-back wins in this event.
Last start, the Overshare filly rung up win number for this campaign when she easily accounted for them in the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes, here over 1600m.
With William Pike aboard for the sixth time, he kept the filly close to the fence and after finding the front, went on to win by almost two lengths on the line.
She has barrier eight here and maps to settle mid-field with cover.
Pike remains in the saddle and now boasts a 30% strike rate with the stable.
Already a track and distance winner, she should manage the step-up to Group 2 level here and at her peak, will prove hard to hold out.
Race 8: No.5 Light Infantry Man
Ciaron Maher saddles-up Light Infantry Man here who has found his mojo this preparation and looks a serious chance of taking out the Railway Stakes.
Last start, the Irish-sired gelding came off three-straight unplaced efforts when he bounced back to clobber them in the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes over the 1600m trip at Flemington.
James McDonald rode him a treat that day and after settling mid-field, finished like a train to find the front inside the last 100m and go on to win by almost two lengths on the line.
J.Mac pops back from Hong Kong to fulfill obligations here and has the reins again on board the six-year-old.
Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle just behind the speed with the leaders in clear sight.
At his peak now after four runs back, a genuine pace should see him take the trail to the turn then make his move where he will prove hard to hold out again.
