The James Cummings-trained Pisanello is shooting for the hat-trick here and in Provincial company, looks the one to beat.

Last start, the Ribchester gelding came off a big win at Warwick Farm when he made the road trip to Melbourne and after lining up in BM80 company, walked away with another victory, this time on the Flemington track down the straight course over 1100m.

He was just one of James McDonald’s Melbourne Cup Carnival success stories and from gate one that day, had too many guns for them, winning by half a length on the line.

Back north of the border again, he sees the Kembla Grange track for the first time here and with J.Mac in Hong Kong for a riding stint, Adam Hyeronimus returns for his third ride on the galloper.

Down in grade here and jumping from gate one, he looks the pick of the day.

Race 7: No.15 Rock Empire

The Waterhouse & Bott-trained Rock Empire is high flying this time in and looks well placed here to continue the good work in this event.

Last start, the Deep Field entire was looking for a third-straight win when he came up a little short, finishing fourth in a BM78 over 1400m at Rosehill.

It was his first crack at that level and with Adam Hyeronimus in the saddle wasn’t disgraced, finishing less than two lengths from the winner.

He gets the gun-run from gate one here and maps to settle near the speed as Tim Clark returns for this assignment.

Down in the weights here, a trouble-free run could see him saluting again.

Race 10: No.16 Restonica

James Cummings saddles-up Restonica here who is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks a solid chance of going on with it here at odds.

Last start, the well-bred Exceed And Excel gelding made it a hat-trick of top-two finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM72 over 1300m at Warwick Farm.

He settled better than mid-field and with Zac Lloyd at the helm, ran home strongly to miss out on the major prize by a whisker, beaten a neck on the line.

He comes up with gate nine (of 16) here and maps to settle near mid-field again with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle for the first time.

Weighing-in with just 54.5kgs to carry, the four-year-old shouldn’t be looked upon lightly and with a clear run to the line, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
