Race 6: No.3 Wunderbar

The John Size-trained Wunderbar is unbeaten in two starts this preparation and looks all set for the hat-trick today.

Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding came off a first-up win in Class 3 company when he stepped-up to a Class 2 contest and with Zac Purton aboard, still proved too good, beating home the 14-strong field over 1200m.

He ran that trip in a slick 1:08.2, almost 1.5 secs quicker than his Class 3 victory.

Purton sticks with him here where he draws ideally in gate 2 and maps to settle just behind the speed.

All seven career-starts have been run here where the four-year-old has won six of them, clearly labelling him a track specialist and despite the weight increase here, he still looks too good for this field.

Race 7: No.6 Bottomuptogether

Frankie Lor saddles-up Bottomuptogether here who is third-up today and has done enough so far this preparation to suggest he will take catching in this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding did a mighty job to beat all but Wunderbar home in a Class 2, here over 1200m.

With Mattew Chadwick on board, he crossed from his wide gate (11 of 14) and controlled the race until straightening when the race favourite (Wunderbar) arrived on the scene where the pair of them battled it out all the way to the line and just a long neck separated them on the line.

Chadwick sticks with him here as he draws wide again in gate 10 (of 14) and maps to cross and be in the leading group on settling.

Just five race starts have produced three wins and two runner-up finishes to date with all of those on the Sha Tin track.

Already a winner when third-up, Lor slips the tongue tie on today and a repeat of his last-start effort should see him hard to run down in this contest.

Race 10: No.3 Voyage Samurai

Another from the Lor stable is Voyage Samurai who is second-up today and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is the one top beat in this event.

Last start, the Dissident galloper was fresh off an 18-week spell when he beat all but one home in a Class 3, here over 1600m.

With regular rider Derek Leung in the saddle, he drew the car park in gate 11 (of 13) and eventually crossed to lead until challenged by another, settling second on the fence.

He regained the lead early in the run home but his lack of condition saw him beaten home by Pray For Mir, beaten less than half a length on the line.

Drawn much better in gate four today, Leung is expected to have him controlling the race on settling and fitter for that first-up run, he should prove a lot harder to run down in this contest.
