Race 3: No.4 Red Patrol
The Wayne Walters-trained Red Patrol boasts an impressive resume with nine podium finishes from his 13 career-starts to date and looks well placed here to add another one to his tally.
Last start, the Ocean Park gelding came off a good win in a BM72 over 2050m at Mt. Gambier when he came close to another win, finishing a close-up third in a stronger BM78, here over 2000m.
Coming from well back and wide in the run, he showed plenty of fight to go down by just half a length on the line.
Regular rider, Kate Walters (trainer’s daughter) was aboard that day and boasts a strong record with the six-year-old, scoring all four career wins (and as many minor placings) from 11 rides to date and remains in charge for this assignment.
Meeting similar company here, he steps up to the 2500m journey for the first time but sired by a Cox Plate winner, he has stayer’s blood in his veins and should handle the trip.
Placed at the track last start, he looks a major contender for the gold medal here.
Race 6: No.4 Favourite Child
The Clarken & O’Shea training partnership saddle-up Favourite Child here who is in top-shelf form and looks poised to make it four in a row in this event.
Last start, the Dundeel mare made it a hat-trick when she defied the odds and clobbered her rivals in a BM68 over 1500m at Gawler.
With apprentice Rochelle Milnes in the saddle, the four-year-old made it look easy after jumping from gate 13 (of 14) and despite sitting three-wide most of the way, took control of the race and went on to put more than three lengths on them over the line.
She takes on BM76 company again here (after winning at this level two starts back) and has Milnes steering the ship for this assignment.
Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle just behind the speed and in her current frame of mind, she looks the one to beat and is our best of the day.
Race 8: No.1 Bamyan Buddha
Locally-trained by Grant Young, Bamyan Buddha has established himself as a track specialist and third-up today will be out to bring up career-win number seven in this event.
Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding was second-up of a six-month break when he made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM66 over 1250m on a Heavy 9 at Morphettville Parks.
Sam Payne was aboard that day, having his sixth ride on the galloper and remains in charge for this assignment.
Back on home soil here, the five-year-old is yet to miss the podium on his home track with five starts resulted in a win and four minor placings.
He draws gate nine (of 14) here and maps to cross and settle better than mid-field.
Placed in three of four previous third-up appearances, a trouble-free run here should see him challenging for victory in the run home.
Race 9: No.2 Lingani
The Morphettville-based Lingani is high-flying this time in and looks ideally placed here to go back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the three-year-old was third-up and on her home turf when she finished best to claim victory in a BM66 over 1000m on a Heavy 9 that day.
Dom Tourneur has been with the filly for all six of her career starts and remains in charge for this assignment.
She gets all the favours from gate one here where she maps to settle near mid-field on the fence.
Placed second at her only visit to this track, the scene looks set for another forward showing and already a winner when third-up, she looks right in the mix here at odds.
