Race 1: No.8 Cruise To Victory
The Team Williams-trained Cruise To Victory has improved with each start this time in and now at his best, looks set for back-to-back wins in this event.
Last start, the Lucky Street gelding was fourth-up and at his peak when he clobbered a Class 5 field over 1410m at Bunbury.
With Clint Johnston-Porter aboard, he settled just behind the speed and soon after straightening, took control and went on to cross the line more than three lengths clear of the field.
William Pike returns here for his third ride on the four-year-old who has placed twice in his only two starts at the track.
Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle just behind the speed again and with a clear run home, he looks the one to beat again.
Race 3: No.4 Hostile Talk
Another from the Team Williams camp is Hostile Talk who is fourth-up here and looks well placed for back-to-back victories as well.
Last start, the War Chant gelding pulled off a miracle win when he claimed victory in a Class 3 Hcp over 1100m at Bunbury.
Looking out of it at the start, the three-year-old was sandwiched at barrier rise and missed the jump by two lengths.
Recovering to settle second-last, Clint Johnston-Porter kept him glued to the inside fence where he railed like a greyhound and found himself within striking distance of the leaders.
He pounced inside the last 200m and went on to score a great win.
William Pike returns to steer the ship in this contest after riding him to victory here on debut last preparation.
He maps to settle mid-field from gate six and a trouble-free run this time sees him up there and challenging for first prize when the whips are cracking.
Race 6: No.2 Playhouse Patron
Bob McPherson saddles-up Playhouse Patron here who is high flying since resuming and looks set for another victory in this event.
Last start, the Patronize gelding improved off his first-up minor placing when he beat home a 13-strong field in a BM66 Hcp, here over 1600m.
He settled two pairs back (on the fence) with Joe Azzopardi in the saddle and once clear, finished best to take home the major prize.
He boasts track specialist status with three wins and two minor placings coming form his six starts here to date and while he steps up to BM72 grade, he drops a little in weight and has Luke Campbell aboard for the first time.
He maps to settle mid-field from gate seven and third-up here, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 7: No.8 Invincible Ruby
The Bunbury-based Invincible Ruby makes the two-hour trek to Belmont here and boasting a strong track record, looks set to figure again in this event.
Last start, the Demerit gelding was fresh after almost a year in the paddock when she came off two unplaced trials and beat all but one home in a 1 Metro-Win Hcp, here over 1000m.
With regular rider Troy Turner in the saddle, she blew like a gale in the betting ring ($9 to $19) but surprised her doubters when finishing less than half a length from victory that day after jumping from the outside gate.
She has placed when second-up previously and boasts a very strong record at the track and distance with four prior appearances ending with two wins and as many minor placings.
Turner steers the ship again for this assignment as she maps to settle near mid-field early.
With a clear run to the line, she can give this a real shake at odds.
