Doomben racing takes place on Wednesday, July 13, with a nine-race program set for the QLD metro meeting.

Race 3: No. 6 Invincible Shield
Race 6: No. 3 Maid To Fit
Race 7: No. 1 Atmosphere
Race 9: No. 14 Atlantic Ocean

We have the best bets picked out from across day with value selections for Doomben Racecourse.

Race 3: No. 6 Invincible Shield

This colt by I Am Invincible went three runs without a win during his two-year-old season but he was beaten six lengths behind eventual Group 1 winner Griff in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes last September.

He was transferred to the care of Tony Gollan in May and subsequently won two in a row at Doomben by a combined 6.3 lengths leading into this event.

A recent trial win will have him ready to peak now at his third run and he’s being asked to carry just 54.5kg.

Race 6: No. 3 Maid To Fit

A very progressive daughter of Snitzel who worked her way through the grades last campaign with four wins on the trot.

That run earned her a shot at the million on the Gold Coast in January where she managed to place behind multiple Group 1 winner Lady Laguna.

Both runs this pre have been a little disappointing but she will be much better back on top of the ground and will appreciate the sharp step back in grade.

Race 7: No. 1 Atmosphere

Failed to win under the care of James Cummings during her last campaign but wasn’t beaten far in all three runs which included two seconds in good company.

She switched stables to Jack Bruce in June and seemingly appreciated the change of scenery by winning a class 3 first up at Ipswich two weeks ago.

There will be benefit taken out of that run, the step up on distance suits, and this race doesn’t look any tougher than her last start victory.

Race 9: No. 14 Atlantic Ocean

Proved too good for them in a benchmark 72 at Doomben last time out when sustaining a long run to blitz his rivals by 1.5 lengths over 1350m.

The son of I Am Invincible was racing well in Sydney before heading north and the improving weather in Brisbane this week will only benefit his chances.

Drawn well in barrier two and can finish our day on a winning note.
