- Caulfield Race 7 No. 1- Gitagong
- Caulfield Race 8 No. 1- Ashford Street
Caulfield racing takes place on Saturday, July 11, with a nine-race program for the Victorian meeting.
We have the best bets picked out from across the day with value selections for Caulfield Racecourse.
Caulfield Race 4 No. 3- Rezone
Rezone gets his chance in Race 4. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper is one of the better Maiden’s getting around and didn’t look out of place at Flemington recently when stepping out over the 2000m, placing 3rd behind Aztec State.
He settled just worse than midfield in that race before producing the fastest last 200m to finish just over a length away.
The son of Dundeel has the fitness in the tank and pace in the race should suit with the likes of Eye For An Eye and Do You Think So to go forward.
Caulfield Race 7 No. 1- Gitagong
Gitagong shapes as a value player in Race 7 of the day at Caulfield. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper has had just the one start this time in with that coming over the 1000m at Caulfield and he settled on the speed before finishing runner-up behind Whistlefield, putting a bit of a gap on the luckless Fleetwood.
The three-year-old won three of four at his last preparation and was a big improver on benchmark figures second up when Hawkesbury Maiden win to a BenchMark 64 victory at Warwick Farm. He then won the Melbourne way of going at Moonee Valley.
1100m is the slight query but he was deep into his prep last time when missing out over the journey and the son of Zoustar has the early speed to negotiate the barrier.
Caulfield Race 8 No. 1- Ashford Street
Keen on Ashford Street in the feature of the day, the Group 3 John Monash Stakes. The six-year-old performs well at Caulfield and had a few things go against at his most recent assignment when 8th at Flemington behind Crosshaven.
He stepped out in an 1100m race prior to that, running a quick time when runner-up behind La Danseuse Rouge, while he was a winner over the 1000m prior to that at Caulfield.
The Tom Dabernig-trained galloper performed well at this level at Caulfield at a similar stage of his last preparation and meets some of the other fancied runners on better terms with fitness.
