Race 2: No.2 Dubbo Boy
The Danny Williams-trained galloper has found his mojo for this preparation and looks a serious contender for the major prize in this event.
Last start, the Casino Prince gelding was third-up when he scored his second win by taking out a BM58 over 1000m at Warren.
Carrying 60.5kgs that day, Mikayla Weir settled him back in the 12-strong field before working into the race approaching the turn, then timing her run perfectly, the gelding finished like a train down the centre of the track and passing them all, went on to win by two lengths in the end.
Meeting similar company here, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle near mid-field on the fence with Brodie Loy as the new pilot for this assignment.
The stable fit the tongue tie for the first time and at his peak today, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 5: No.3 Olington Lane
The locally-trained galloper has impressed after three race starts and on home soil today, looks well placed to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Ole Kirk gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he faced BM64 rivals and finished fourth in the 1300m event at Kembla Grange.
On a Heavy 8 that day, Keagan Latham settled him back in the field before tracking wide on the turn and whilst appearing uncomfortable in the conditions, still ran home well to pass all but the placegetters over the line.
Dropping back to BM58 company here, he draws well in gate five and maps to settle near mid-field and after steering him to both career wins to date, Pierre Boudvillain returns to take the reins for this assignment.
At his peak after three runs in and with conditions forecast to be drier today, the three-year-old looks set to make a play for the gold medal in this contest.
Race 8: No.8 Dirtballer
The Kembla Grange-based galloper sees the Moruya track for the first time today and after a sensational debut, looks set to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Graff filly made a big impact when she left the gates for her first race start and destroyed her rivals in a Maiden Plate over 1005m at the Sapphire Coast.
Amy McLucas took her straight to the lead on settling where she controlled the tempo to the turn, then gradually picked up the pace and in the run home, left the field behind to sort out the minors as she crossed the line six lengths clear in the end.
McLucas sticks with her for this assignment where the filly will need a little luck after drawing gate 13 (of 14) and maps to push forward in search of a spot in the first half-dozen.
The step-up to the 1200m today looks ideal for her based on the space she put on her opposition last start and provided she doesn’t burn up too much fuel at the start, the three-year-old should be there at the finish of this Class 1 contest.
