Race 1 No.6- Tagamate
Tagamate has been knocking on the door at his past few starts and should be hard to beat in the opener. The Mark & Levi Kavanagh-trained galloper has placed at his past three starts and stuck on well in a harder Maiden than this last time at Sandown when 3rd over the 1200m behind Miss Lola. The son of Tagaloa went 3.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is nearly five lengths better than what any other runer in this race has produced in their careers to date. He draws ideally in barrier 4 and this does look to be his for the taking.
Race 5 No.11- Arizona Luck
Arizona Luck can go close in Race 5. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper has been working home well over shorter trips in her two runs this time in, producing a real eye-catcher when resuming at Warrnambool with a 4th over the 1000m before again doing her best work late when 4th at Swan Hill in a BenchMark 64 over the 1200m at the recent carnival. She gets out to the 1425m for this assignment and her best performance on benchmark figures came over the distance when three lengths off them in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude last spring. The daughter of Lucky Vega should enjoy a nice time in tranist from barrier 5 and will be hard to hold out at the business end.
Race 6 No.7- Hawk Power
This looks to be a suitable assignment for Hawk Power. The five-year-old was runner-up over the 2000m in the Casterton Cup two starts ago before jumping to the 2400m at Caulfield and sticking on well for 4th behind Empress Of The Sun. The locally trained galloper drops back in grade and will find this easier, while he has a stack of fitness in the tank now after three runs over 2000m and beyond. He should be hard to beat.
Race 8 No.11- Whiskey Joe
Keen on Whiskey Joe at his first run back from a spell. The promising galloper from the Price/Kent Jnr stable has had the three career starts for a debut win at Sale before placing in a couple of stronger races than this at Morphettville. The son of Snitzel has led and gone faster than standard benchmark in all three of those and comes in with a winning trial under the belt, while the blinkers go on for the first time.
