Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, October 5, with a 9-race program set down for the Morphettville track.

Race 3: No.7 Peta’s Heart

Race 3: No.7 Peta’s Heart

The Clarken & O’Shea-trained Peta’s Heart has her third race-start here and has shown enough already to suggest she can go back-to-back in this contest.

Last start, the Pierro mare came off a debut minor placing where she destroyed her rivals in a 1600m Maiden at Balaklava.

With Jessica Eaton remaining aboard, the four-year-old came from back in the field and peeling off heels, became the widest runner as they turned, then finished all over the top of them, going on to score by 4.5 lengths over the line.

She steps-up in class here, facing Class 2 company over the same trip but does drop in weight and has Eaton sticking with her for the assignment.

From gate seven, she maps to settle back in the field again and with a repeat of that last-start effort, looks set to play a major role in this contest.

Race 4: No.4 Duvach

The Price & Kent camp saddle-up Duvach here who is third-up and with a major gear change, looks a serious threat to this field.

Last start, the Savabeel mare came off a first-up win at Geelong (after 12 months off the scene), where she settled too far back and despite a strong effort at the finish, couldn’t make up the ground, finishing mid-field, beaten just over three lengths in the end.

Fitter for two runs back now, the five-year-old sees the Morphettville track for the first time here with Zac Spain as the new pilot.

Placed third-up last preparation, the mare should be fit and ready rock here and with a trouble-free run, has claims strong enough to be considered a winning chance in this contest.

Race 5: No.5 Rivkin

The Patrick Ryan-trained Rivkin is in top-shelf form this time in and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the Pariah gelding came off a good win in BM64 company at Warrnambool when she was allotted 65.5kgs in similar company and did well to beat all but one home that day over the 1000m sprint on the same track.

Here, he draws well in gate six and maps to settle just behind the early speed with Tayla Childs back aboard for her fourth ride on the galloper.

His only previous start on the Morphettville track resulted in a win with Tayla Childs in the saddle that day.

Yet to miss a top-two finish in four starts this preparation, the five-year-old has the runs on the board and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 8: No.18 Misludi

The Phillip Stokes-trained Misludi secures a run here (as an emergency) and third-up looks set to give this event a real shake.

Last start, the Supido mare was second-up off a lengthy 21-week break when she beat all but one home in a Class 2 , here over 1050m.

From gate nine (of 11), she settled a clear last and in the run home, put in the big ones and finished within half a length of victory with Kayla Crowther in the saddle.

Here, she draws nicely in gate two and maps to settle in the back half of the field with Lachlan Neindorf as the new pilot.

Fitter for two runs back, she is already a track and distance winner and with a clear run to the line, she can get the job done here at each-way odds.
