Race 6: No.7 Super Alana
The Strathalbyn-based galloper is in outstanding form this time in and looks ready to score her first win on the Morphettville track.
Last start, the Belardo mare made it five-straight top-two finishes when she took out a BM64 over 1350m on her home track.
Ideally drawn again in this event, she jumps from gate two and maps to settle in the first half-dozen with new pilot Todd Pannell in the saddle.
Victory on this track has illuded the mare after five previous attempts but in the frame of mind the five-year-old is currently in, she gets every chance here to end the drought in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Silent Surrente
The Clarken & O’Shea Team saddle-up Silent Surrente here who is a track specialist and third-up in this event, looks a genuine winning chance in this field.
Last start, the Fiorente mare showed a ton of improvement when she collected fourth prize in a BM78, here over 1600m with Rochelle Milnes on board.
Still looking one run short, she battled home gamely, beaten just two lengths on the line.
Looking for more ground, she gets it here as she takes on Listed company over the 2000m journey which is her pet distance, boasting two wins and three minor placings from her six starts over the trip.
Milnes remains at the helm for this assignment where the mare maps to settle better than mid-field from gate six and already a winner when third-up, looks set to give this contest a real shake.
Race 9: No.4 Clarence
Another from the Clarken & O’Shea stable is Clarence who has set the track alight from his eight starts to date and second-up here, looks the best of the day.
Last start, the well-bred Sir Prancealot gelding had his first start for the new stable and wasted no time impressing connections when he took out a BM66, here over 1050m with regular rider Kayla Crowther on board again.
Resuming after 10 months off the scene, he drew gate 10 (of 11) and settled last before coming wide on the turn and finished strongly to take control, going on to win by a length on the line.
He meets similar company over the same trip here with Crowther in pride of place.
The five-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one where he maps top be parked right behind the early speed on the fence.
With a clear run to the line, surely just bad luck deprives him of win number four in this contest.
