Caulfield racing takes place on Saturday, February 8, with a 10-race program set down for Caulfield racetrack.

Caulfield Race 1 No. 1- One Long Day
Caulfield Race 6 No. 4- Rey Magnerio
Caulfield Race 8 No. 7- Windstorm
Caulfield Race 9 No. 1- Mr Brightside

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Caulfield racetrack.

Caulfield Race 1 No. 1- One Long Day

One Long Day can open up proceedings with a win. The four-year-old has been up for a while but continues to produce and overcame trouble to win impressively at Flemington two starts ago over the 1600m before just going down at Sandown last time behind Smokin’ Princess but gapping the rest. He drops down from BenchMark 84 for this and carries weight but does look to have a class edge and maps well from barrier 4 with John Allen to ride.

Caulfield Race 6 No. 4- Rey Magnerio

Nice support race on Orr Stakes day with the sprinters in action in the Rubiton Stakes (1100m). Rey Magnerio did little wrong during his spring preparation when winning one and placing in four with all of them in similar company. He was unlucky in a couple of runs when narrowly beaten by Maharba at Flemington and Estriella over the 1100m at Caulfield. The Robbie Griffiths-trained galloper comes into this with a winning trial under his belt and produced some solid figures when first up in the spring at the track and trip. Pace in the race to come from a number of these, which will set things up nicely for the five-year-old. Look for him to be strong late.

Caulfield Race 8 No. 7- Windstorm

Very keen on the juicy odds for Windstorm in Race 8. The veteran has not won since 2020 but has had a number of injury issues since then. He is on the one-week back-up after an impressive run at Sandown last weekend when posted wide before running on for 4th behind Name Dropper, going 12.8 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this race. His best run since 2020 came off a one-week break when runner-up at Flemington last year, while he draws much better this time around in barrier 3.

Caulfield Race 9 No. 1- Mr Brightside

Mr Brightside should be hard to beat in the feature of the day, the CF Orr Stakes. The seven-year-old has won two of his past three runs when resuming, while he was runner-up in the other. They were all over the 1400m at Caulfield, including an epic win ahead of Pride Of Jenni in this race last year. He draws awkwardly in barrier 8 but is adaptable enough to handle whatever is thrown at him early on and I expect Craig Williams to be able to slot in as a number of the rivals inside of him like to settle back. A winner of a a trial in preparation for this, he has won five of six at the track and trip.
