Race 5: No.5 Mcwoody
The Victorian-based galloper has struck form at the right time and looks well placed here to figure in the finish of the Guineas.
Last start, the Alabama Express colt was second-up and showed enough improvement to take out a BM64 over 1600m at Sandown.
On the Lakeside track, he settled back in the field before tracking the leaders into the home straight, then came off heels and in the run to the line, finished too strong and got the nod on the line, winning his first start for the Symons & Laxon stable.
Drawn well in gate six, he maps to settle in the back half of the field with Daniel Stackhouse backing-up for the ride.
There is plenty of upside about this three-year-old and even fitter now, he looks a serious player in this year’s Guineas.
Race 7: Regeneration
Team Freedman saddle-up Regeneration here who is yet to miss a podium finish and second-up today is a strong chance for back-to-back success at odds in this event.
Last start, the King's Legacy gelding resumed off a 15-week spell and did well to take out a BM70 over 1000m on the Heath track at Caulfield.
Sent out a hot $2.45 favourite, Damian Lane settled him back in the field before hitting top gear on straightening to finish best and claim victory by half a length on the line.
Well drawn here in gate 4, he maps to settle better than mid-field with Todd Pannell aboard for the first time.
Already a winner when second-up, a trouble-free run here can see the three-year-old figure here and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 8: No.3 Pisanello
Team Hayes saddle-up Pisanello here who is second-up and ticks the right boxes that suggest he can score in this event.
Last start, the Ribchester gelding resumed off a lengthy nine-month break and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in the Bob Hoysted Hcp on a Heavy over 1000m at Flemington.
Damian Lane settled him mid-field early and did well on fresh legs to finish just behind the placegetters, beaten less than two lengths on the line.
Taking on Group 3 company here, he draws wide in gate 10 and maps to cross and settle back in the field with Daniel Stackhouse picking up the ride for this assignment.
Already a three-time winner when second-up, he has also saluted four times over the 1100m putting him at the top of tree here and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
