Horsham racing takes place on Tuesday, February 24, with an eight-race program set down for Horsham racetrack.

Race 5 No.9- Olympiad


This might be the one for Olympiad to break the Maiden. The Tony McEvoy youngster has had the four career starts and showed improvement stepping up to the 1618m when second up at Werribee on February 1, running on to place 3rd behind Mickidabeel. He kept finding the line in that race and the winner has since gone on to win with ease at Pakenham at his next start. Olympiad went five lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner and four lengths better than the class average for this race. Step up to the 1800m looks to be in his favour and he should be hard to hold out late in the piece. 

Race 7 No.10- Bellalique


This looks to be a suitable assignment for Bellalique. The seven-year-old wasnt up to the task in harder company than this at Sandown at her most recent start but was runner-up the last time she raced in this company, which came three starts ago at Terang in a race that has produced four winners. She was strong through the line that day and had excuses at Geelong in her other run since then. The Paul Preusker mare will get back from the wide draw but there are a few in this that like to bowl along so she should enjoy a nice cart into the race. Look for her to be challenging them late at the each-way odds. 

Race 8 No.8- Xtramagic


Keen on another from the Preusker yard and it is Xtramagic that can salute in the final race of the day. The five-year-old comes in with six weeks in between runs and was a narrow runner-up off the same gap at the track and trip just before Christmas late last year before missing out in a head-bobber at Murray Bridge in her other run since then. The daughter of Xtravagant loves the track and trip, having won one and finishing runner up in two others from four goes at the track. She will appreciate what looks to be a genuine tempo and chalk up a deserved win.
