The Waterhouse & Bott-trained galloper has improved with each start this preparation and now looks ready to win.
Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding was fourth-up when he beat all but one home in a Maiden Plate, here over 1600m.
Adam Hyeronimus had him box-seating to the turn before coming off heels and in the run home, gave the race favourite (Pink Persuasion) a run for her money but had to settle for second prize that day, beaten a length on the line, conceding the winner 2kgs in the event.
Stepping-up to the 2000m today, he drops 4kgs for the assignment and has Rachel King aboard as the new pilot.
Although drawing the outside gate, the field has been reduced to just seven runners (after early scratchings), with speed maps suggesting he will cross and settle just behind the speed.
The extra distance looks ideal for him at this stage and with a trouble-free run, he looks a real winning chance in this contest.

The Kembla Grange-based galloper sees Hawkesbury for the first time today and in the conditions, looks a rock-solid chance of victory in this event.
Last start, the So You Think mare came off a BM66 win at Nowra when she finished unplaced in similar company over the longer 1600m trip on the same track.
Lumping 60kgs on a Heavy 8 that day, she struggled over the mile trip which took its toll on her, under the conditions.
Facing BM64 opposition today, she drops back to the 1300m and will carry 2.5kgs less for this assignment with Dylan Gibbons taking over as pilot.
The mare gets all the favours from gate one and maps to settle near the speed with the stable fitting the blinkers for the first time.
All three career wins have come on heavy tracks and with a clear run to the line, she looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 8: No.9 Overtook
Ciaron Maher saddles-up Overtook here who has found her mojo and looks a serious chance at odds in this event.
Last start, the Deep Field mare had her first look at a heavy track and got the job done when she took out a Class 3 Hcp over 1100m at Nowra.
Louise Day had her box-seating to the turn, then railing like a greyhound, slipped along the fence to join the lead and in the run home, did best to claim the gold medal for the race.
Facing BM64 company today, she maps to cross and settle mid-field or better with Day retaining the ride for this assignment.
At her peak and already a winner in wet conditions, the four-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this event.
