The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is third-up today and will take catching in this event.

Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding didn’t look at home on the dry track when finishing unplaced in a Class 3 Plate, here over 1200m.

Ryan Maloney settled him second in the race before he began to weaken on the home turn and beat just one home passing the post.

He draws gate four here and maps to settle on the speed again with Maloney steering the ship again.

Recent rain sees the track currently rated a Soft 6 which will be ideal for the five-year-old after both career wins to date have come on rain affected tracks.

If the forecast remains, expect a big improvement in this contest.

Race 7: No.3 Wowzino

David Vandyke saddles-up Wowzino here who is high flying after four starts back and looks set to score again in this event.

Last start, the Tarzino gelding came off an impressive win at the Sunshine Coast when he stepped-up in grade and did well to finish third in a BM68 over 2050m at Doomben.

Facing BM65 company today, he drops back to the 1800m journey with Angela Jones back for her third ride on the four-year-old.

He draws perfectly in gate two and maps to be right on the speed at barrier rise.

Already a winner at the trip and placed twice at the track as well, a trouble-free run here should see him hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 8: No.13 Waku Waku

The Team Archibald-trained galloper has been impressive in two starts this preparation and looks set to make her mark in this event.

Last start, the Brutal mare came off a first-up second placing in a BM65 over 1200m when she stepped-up to the 1400m trip and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in similar company at the Gold Coast with Dylan Turner aboard.

She jumped awkwardly and settled near the tail before making up lost ground before the turn, then finishing on and arriving in time to grab the minor prize in the race.

Meeting similar company here, she draws wide in gate 10 and maps to settle near mid-field with Heavelon Van Der Hoven as the new pilot.

Fitter for two runs in, a clear run home should see the four-year-old there at the finish in this contest.
