Race 4: No.1 About To Explode
The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is flying high after three starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Spirit of Boom gelding was third-up and improved enough to take out a BM85, here over 1200m with Angela Jones in the saddle.
He settled near mid-field to the turn before tracking wide and with punters sending him out a white-hot $1.75 favourite, the oil was good as he went on to score comfortably in the end.
From gate seven, he maps to settle back in the small field and already boasting four wins at the track, he looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 6: No.3 Scampi
Ciaron Maher saddles-up Scampi here who is in great touch this time in and will take beating in this event.
Last start, the Irish-sired gelding found his mojo and rang-up win number one for this preparation when he won in Open company over 1000m at the Gold Coast.
Jace McMurray settled him mid-field early before finishing too strong for them, crossing the line a length clear in the end.
Meeting similar company here, he draws well in gate four and has McMurray steering the ship again.
Already a four-time winner over the 1000m sprint, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Cho Oyu
The locally-trained galloper is two starts into this campaign and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he can figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Territories gelding showed improvement off his first-up minor placing when he took out a BM78, here over 1400m.
Damien Boche settled him mid-field on the fence before sliding underneath those in front and sticking to the rail, finished best on the line, grabbing first prize by a lip.
Jumping from gate five here, he maps to settle mid-field with cover and has Martin Harley aboard as the new pilot.
Already a two-time winner at the track and a winner when third-up, he looks right in the mix for back-to-back success in this contest.
