Caulfield racing takes place on Saturday, April 4, with a program set down for Caulfield.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also features in our coverage of Saturday racing.
Race 8 No.10- See What I See
See What I See is a major player in the Easter Cup. The lightly raced six-year-old has had just the two runs this time in and was a narrow runner-up at Group 3 level over the 1400m when resuming at Flemington before leading over the 1600m and being run down late by Ahha Ahha and Damask Rose. The Danny O’Brien-trained mare gets out to the 2000m and has won three from five at the distance. She has plenty of early speed that should see her negotiate the wide gate to find a spot up front and with just the 54.5kg on her back she will be in this for a long way.
Race 9 No.11- Bossy Benita
Going with Bossy Benita at a nice price in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400m). The four-year-old led all the way at the track and trip two starts ago to claim the Mannerism Stakes (1400m) against the mares then lined up as favourite in the Vobis Gold Distaff but was beaten into 4th position by Bewitchery when lumped with 59.5kg on a day that did not play into the hands of the on-pacers. She drops 5.5kg from that and is two from three at the track and trip, while she should be right at her peak coming into this fourth up.
Race 10 No.9- Gold Medallist
We close off with a BenchMark 84 over the 1400m and Gold Medallist can continue the impressive start to her career. The Moody/Coleman mare has won four of seven and lined up at the track and trip on March 21, settling in a midfield spot before bursting clear in the straight to win by two lengths from Enamorada a couple of weeks ago. She has been crunched in the betting since markets opened and went a very healthy 13.7 lengths faster than standard benchmark last time, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Fourth up at her only other prep she improved nearly five lengths to score at Sandown and with the 3kg claimer, Emily Pozman, to ride, she should be hard to hold out late in the piece.
