Cranbourne racing takes place on Saturday, November 22, with a 10-race program set down for Cranbourne racetrack.

Race 1 No.3- Madiyya
Race 2 No.3- St Edward
Race 4 No.4- Ahha Ahha
Race 5 No.2- Big Sexy

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Cranbourne racetrack.

Race 1 No.3- Madiyya

Going with Madiyya at her first run back from a spell. The promising mare from the Hayes camp has won four of five and went through the grades at her first preparation to score at BenchMark 78 level over the 1600m at Caulfield back in May, prior to spelling. Her only loss did come when fresh, going down over the 1200m at Cranbourne but there are a few points to note from that. She drew wide and was forced back on a crawling tempo before rocketing home to finish runner-up, while the form out of that was solid with six horses going on to win. The daughter of Super Seth comes in with a couple of winning trials, while she should be within striking distance in the eight-horse field.

Race 2 No.3- St Edward

St Edward shapes as a major player in Race 2. The locally trained galloper was strong winner at Moonee Valley in Maiden grade two starts ago before rising steeply in grade to tackle the Red Anchor Stakes (1200m) on Cox Plate day when Napoleonic made a mess of them. He settled handy before sticking on for 4th. This looks to be a more suitable contest for the son of I Am Invincible, who maps perfectly from barrier 3 to sit on the speed in a race that lacks huge amounts of pressure. He should be hard to beat.

Race 4 No.4- Ahha Ahha

Not much went right for Ahha Ahha on Bendigo Cup day and the Clinton McDonald mare looms as a value player in Race 4 of the day. She was well supported in the betting in what was her first run this prep before settling worse than midfield in a race where they absolutely crawled early on, going 18 lengths slower than standard benchmark to the 600m mark. She was then held up from the turn until the 150m mark when looking to have heaps to offer before making late ground for 4th behind Fear No Evil. She comes into this with the extra fitness and produced some excellent performances when getting to the 1400m at her last preparation, placing 3rd behind Madiyya on a leaders track before winning at Sandown by three lengths. Expect her to run well.

Race 5 No.2- Big Sexy

Going with Big Sexy in the Shooting Stars Handicap. The promising galloper has won two of five and was a dominant winner at Hamilton when resuming but has been caught wide at his past two, including a last start effort when sent out as favourite on Oaks Day in the Country Final (1600m), producing a brave 4th behind Guerite. That was his first go at the mile and he should be right on top of his game now, while he draws much better this time around in barrier 14. Look for him to settle handy and be hard to get past at the business end.
