Belmont racing takes place on Saturday, September 19 with an 8-race program set down for the Belmont racetrack.

Race 3: No.5 Pond Master

The Takahide Ikenushi-trained galloper is second-up here and has already laid a platform that suggests he can go back-to-back in this event.

Last start, the Saxon Warrior gelding resumed off a 12-week spell and came out running when he took out a Rating 72 Hcp, here over 1000m.

Drawn out in gate seven (of eight), William Pike settled him mid-field to the turn before coming off heels and in the run home, finished too strong for them and arrived in time to grab the gold medal for the race.

With Pike riding at Caulfield on Saturday, Austin Galati has the reins here and gets the gun-run from gate one where the gelding maps to settle mid-field or better on the fence.

Placed in all four second-up appearances to date and a two-time winner at Belmont, the five-year-old should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 4: No.2 Royal Toronado

The Team Williams-trained galloper is second-up here and down in grade, looks a serious threat in this event.

Last start, the Toronado gelding came off a 19-week absence and did well to beat all but one home in the Listed Farnley Stakes, here over 1400m.

William Pike settled him back in the field after a slow start before coming off heels on the turn, then in the run home, he kept on coming but the start he conceded proved too much in the end, leaving him with second prize in the race.

Drawn in gate seven here, he maps to settle at the rear of the field with Chris Parnham substituting for Pike for this assignment.

Already a three-time winner when second-up and stepping-up to a more suitable 1600m trip, the six-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.

Race 5: No.3 Kings Honour

The Mitchell Pateman-trained galloper has found his mojo this preparation and looks well placed here for a tilt at the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the King's Troop gelding came off a good win when he franked that effort by going back-to-back in a One Metro Win Hcp, here over 1000m.

Holly Nottle had him settled outside the leader to the turn, then soon after, he took over and was avalanched with challenges from several rivals but to his credit, he fought them all off and went on to score by almost a length on the line carrying top weight that day.

Nicely drawn in gate two here, he maps to settle on or near the speed with Nottle in the saddle again.

Now four starts into this preparation, he will be at his peak here and already a three-time winner at the track and distance, he will surely take beating again in this contest.
