Race 2: No.4 Pin Deep
The Adam Durrant-trained Pin Deep is unbeaten in two starts this time in and looks all set for the hat-trick in this contest.
Last start, the Deep Field gelding came off a big first-up win at Pinjarra when he inflicted even more damage when going back-to-back in Class 3 company over 1100m at Northam.
Zephen Johnston-Porter was aboard again as the four-year-old stripped even fitter and destroyed them when leading all the way to win by four lengths after jumping from the outside gate (9) that day.
Here, he gets the gun-run from gate one and welcomes back Zephen’s older brother Clint, returning after seven previous rides on the four-year-old.
Already a winner when third-up, he is yet to salute here after six visits to Belmont but with most things in his favour this time, he looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 4: No.8 Bondi Plunge
The Dan Morton-trained Bondi Plunge has proven to be a real punter’s friend and second-up here, ticks all the boxes that suggest he will take beating in this event.
Last start, the Bondi mare resumed off a 17-week spell and did it in style when she clobbered her rivals, here over 1200m with Chris Parnham aboard.
Parnham gave her the run of the race, one out, one back, and fanning wide on the turn, ran over the front runners on her way to victory, putting almost two lengths on them over the line, setting the best closing splits for the race.
Fitter here, she draws ideally in gate two where she maps to settle just behind the speed with Parnham in the saddle again.
She has proven to be a consistent galloper with 14 starts resulting in two wins and no less than 10 minor placings.
Already a winner when second-up and has success at the track and distance, only bad luck can surely beat her in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Kraken Time
Sharon Miller saddles-up Kraken Time here who has found the podium in all four starts this preparation and looks on target for back-to-back wins in this event.
Last start, the Universal Ruler gelding recorded win number two when he ran them over in a Class 3, here over 1200m.
From gate 11 (of 14), he settled worse than mid-field, three-wide with cover, then was pulled wide on the turn by Shaun Mc Gruddy and with 59kgs, finished over the top of them to score by 1.5 lengths on the line.
He draws even better here as he jumps from gate five and maps to settle closer to the fence with cover as Mc Gruddy sticks with him for this assignment.
In outstanding form this time in, he is a winner at track and looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Watch Me Rock
The Team Williams-trained Watch Me Rock is unbeaten in two starts this preparation and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he is a prime contender for the major prize in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Awesome Rock gelding recorded his third career-win in just seven starts when he got there in a close finish over 1400m on this track.
William Pike threw everything at him and it proved to be enough as he crossed the line a neck clear of his nearest rival.
This BM66 looks no harder as he draws out in gate nine (of 11), but maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with cover.
Pike boasts a 30% success rate with the Williams team and sticks with the four-year-old for this assignment.
With plenty of upside still on offer here, a trouble-free run should see him more than competitive in this contest.
