Belmont racing takes place on Saturday, August 31, with a 9-race program set down for the Belmont track.
  • Race 2: No.5  Cleanemup
  • Race 6: No.4  Watch Me Rock
  • Race 7: No.6  Patron Of Kings
  • Race 8: No.2  Otheroneson

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Belmont racecourse.

Race 2: No.5  Cleanemup

The Dion Luciano-trained Cleanemup is unbeaten in two starts and looks set for the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the Rich Enuff filly made it two in a row when she took out the Quayclean Plate, here over 1000m with William Pike in the saddle.

From gate one, she always looked in control and inside the final 100m made it clear she has a promising career ahead of her as she put 1.5 lengths on them with plenty y=to spare.

She has gate four here and Pike sticks by her again where she maps to settle on the speed again.

A trouble-free run here and she should take a ton of beating in this contest.

Race 6: No.4  Watch Me Rock

Team Williams saddle-up the promising Watch Me Rock here who is second-up and looks poised for back-to-back victories in this event.

Last start, the son of Awesome Rock was fresh off a 12-week spell where he wore down the leader and took out a Class 1 Hcp over 1300m at Northam.

Fitter for that run, he lines-up here in a 1 Metro Win Hcp where William Pike is reunited with him, having ridden him four times previously for a win and three minor placings.

The four-year-old makes his track debut here where he is already a winner when second-up and while drawing the outside gate (9), he maps to cross and settle mid-field with cover.

With just a little luck in running, Pike can have him in the right spot on the turn where he can let loose and he can run down the speed again in this contest.

Race 7: No.6  Patron Of Kings

At big odds here, the Team Gangemi-trained Patron Of Kings is second-up and ticks far too many boxes to ignore in this event.

Last start, the King's Troop gelding came off a lengthy 21-week absence when he did well on a Heavy 9 to finish third in a 1 Metro Win Hcp, here over 1200m with Shaun Mc Gruddy in the saddle.

He is now a track specialist, with all three of his career-wins coming on the Belmont track and at the 1200m trip.

Mc Gruddy remains in the saddle here and from gate seven, maps to drop him back at the start and looks for cover on settling.

He is already a winner when second-up and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 8: No.2  Otheroneson

The Luke Fernie-trained Otheroneson is second-up here and boasting a very impressive resume, looks the one to beat in this event.

Last start, the Demerit gelding had his first start for the new stable and resuming after more than two years off the scene, did well to finish just behind the placegetters in a BM72, here over 1200m.

With Brad Parnham in the saddle, he drew the outside gate (10) and ran home well to finish fourth, beaten just over a length in the end.

Now a six-year-old, he has nine career-starts behind him resulting in four wins and three runner-up finishes, a 78% success rate to date.

Much better drawn in gate two here, he maps to settle closer to the speed here with Parnham sticking with him for this assignment.

He will strip fitter off that first-up run and is unbeaten in two second-up appearances in his career.

Expect big improvement here as he shapes-up to be one of the main contenders for the big prize in this contest.
