Ballarat Race 10 No. 5- The Open

We have the best bets picked out from across the day with value selections for Ballarat Racecourse.

Ballarat Race 4 No. 3- Miss Roumbini

Nice return by Miss Roumbini at Caulfield on November 16 and the four-year-old can go a couple of spots better in this race. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained mare stepped out at Group 3 level in the How Now Stakes (1200m) and closed off steadily for 3rd behind Niance. At the second run of her last preparation she was a 10-length improver on benchmark figures when scoring at Sandown. This looks slightly easier than her first up assignment and the possibility of a Soft track will only enhance her chances.

Ballarat Race 9 No. 5- Globe

Globe can go on with the job in the Ballarat Cup. The recent Cranbourne Cup (1600m) winner comes into this fourth up, while a number of other big names have been up for a while. He led at Cranbourne before sticking on and should be ready for a peak performance. His best career benchmark figure came at his previous fourth up run and he is likely to roll forward with Air Assault on his inside. The lightly raced six-year-old has won five of nine and is another that enjoys Soft ground.

Ballarat Race 10 No. 5- The Open

The Open can be an improver in the final race of the day. The Patrick and Michelle Payne-trained galloper was ok first up at Moonee Valley over the 1200m but just lacked the dash at the business end when 5th behind Pantelone. 1400m suits better and he was a 10-length improver second up at his last preparation when scoring over the 1300m at Sandown. He was consistent throughout what was a long preparation, finishing top two in seven of eight starts. He has performed on wet ground in the past and looks to be value at the quote.
