Race 5: No.4 Seven Days
The Brad Widdup-trained galloper is third-up today and after a successful return to the track, looks set to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Farnan mare made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when she beat all but one home in a BM64 Hcp over 1100m at Hawkesbury.
Chad Schofield settled her back in the field before weaving through traffic looking for clean air, then secured a rails run and finished strongly to grab the silver medal in the race.
The mare jumps from gate nine today and maps to cross and settle near mid-field with Schofield in the saddle again.
Fitter for two runs back, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Cool Waters
Second-up today, the Nathan Doyle-trained galloper is yet to miss a top-two spot on the podium and looks well placed here to keep that record intact in this event.
Last start, the Headwater mare resumed after 10 months off the scene and did well when she beat all but one to the line in a BM64 Hcp over the 900m sprint at Newcastle.
She settled mid-field early before coming off heels and taking the turn as the widest runner, then ran home strongly to grab second prize on the line.
Drawn nicely in gate four, she maps to settle just behind the speed with Ash Morgan back to ride after steering her to victory at Scone two starts back.
Already a winner when second-up, the four-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 7: No.6 Stability
Nacim Dilmi saddles-up Stability here who is in great touch of late and looks a strong chance of bringing up the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Zoustar gelding came off his maiden win (on this track) and franked that effort when he clobbered his rivals in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Gosford.
On a Heavy 9 that day, he settled near the back of the field before tracking wide on the turn, then in the run home, took control inside the final 200m and raced away to score by two lengths on the line.
From gate four, he maps to do no early work as he settles back in the field and after riding him to both career wins to date, Lee Maggorian remains aboard for this assignment.
Facing BM68 company here and in winning form, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
