The Team Williams-trained True Player is high-flying this time in and looks set for back-to-back wins in this event.

Last start, the Playing God gelding was second-up and showed enough improvement to break through for his maiden win over 1600m at Northam.

With William Pike in the saddle, he drew the car park in gate 11 (of 12), forcing Pike’s hand who settled him back in the field on the fence.

Pulling wide on the turn, Pike wound him up where he showed a good turn of speed and pulling off the best splits in the race, went on to win by a length over the line.

He gets all the favours here from gate one where he does no early work.

Now even fitter for two runs back, he tackles the Ascot mile for the first time today with Pike in charge again.

In great touch this preparation, he will take beating in this contest.

Race 8: No.3 Divine Impact

Locally-trained by Neville Parnham, Divine Impact is unbeaten in two starts this preparation and another win on home soil would not surprise.

Last start, the Playing God filly came off a first-up win at Belmont when she repeated the dose, here in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m with Chris Parnham aboard on both occasions.

She drew the fence that day and led from barrier to box.

From gate seven, she maps to possibly take a sit behind the speed in this Listed event with Parnham steering the ship again.

Down 2.5kgs today, she has the runs on the board and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 9: No.1 Prophet And Power

The Jim Taylor-trained Prophet And Power is second-up today and is more than capable of going one better in this event.

Last start, the Divine Prophet gelding resumed off a lengthy nine-month absence and impressed when beating all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1400m at Belmont.

With Luke Campbell aboard, he settled outside the leader and turning for home, took control, only to succumb to a lack of fitness and had to settle for second prize, beaten a head on the line.

He draws out here in gate nine but still maps to settle near the speed with Campbell steering the ship again.

He sees the Ascot track for the first time today but is already a winner when second-up and at good odds here, he looks in the mix for victory in this contest.
