The stayers tackle the 2800m journey and Hit The Road Jack should be an improver back at Flemington. The eight-year-old was no match for the Melbourne Cup contenders in the Geelong Cup (2400m) at his most recent start, finishing 9th. But he wasn't disgraced and at his most recent Flemington start, he nearly took out the Archer Stakes (2500m) at Group 3 level. He probably prefers a Soft to Heavy track and wont get that but he did go close at Mornington two starts ago on the Good when unlucky, while he ran quick time when scoring at the track and trip in the Deane Lester Cup back in July.
Flemington Race 8 No. 8- Chewing Gum
Keen on Chewing Gum in Race 8. The Team Hayes galloper has had the three career starts and produced a real eye-catcher last time at Caulfield when charging home to fill the exacta behind Kuroyanagi. She weaved a bit of a passage in the straight on a day that played into the hands of those up front to just miss out. The daughter of Brazen Beau looks ready for another crack at the 1400m and should be suited at Flemington.
Flemington Race 10 No. 12- Warnie
Warnie can end the day a winner. The Ciaron Maher import has won three of five and was excellent at his local debut when getting up in the shadows to defeat Zebella over the 1200m at Flemington, going a healthy 9.1 lengths faster than standard benchmark. That came off a one-year break and he will strip fitter. The four-year-old won at Listed level over the 1500m in the UK before coming over and draws perfectly in barrier 4 with Ethan Brown to ride.
