Race 7: No.7 Black Ora
The Adam Durrant-trained galloper is unbeaten in two starts back and ticks all boxes that suggest he will take beating in this event.
Last start, the Playing God mare came off a first-up win at Belmont when she franked that effort by going back-to-back in a BM66, here over 1000m with William Pike aboard on both occasions.
The mare drew the outside gate (11) and settled back in the field before finishing over the top of them in the run home and posting the best final 400m of the day, arrived in time to claim victory by a length on the line.
Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle near mid-field with cover here and has Pike steering the ship again.
The four-year-old now has five wins from eleven starts on her resume and a trouble-free run here should see her saluting in this contest.
Race 8: No.10 Elite Beau
Team Williams saddle-up Elite Beau here who impressed first-up and up against his own age here, looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Brazen Beau colt resumed after six months off the scene and did it in style, beating home a Class 3 field, here over 1000m with William Pike in charge.
Parked one out, one back, he took the trail to the turn where Pike asked him for more and he delivered, going on to score by almost two lengths on the line.
He lines up here ideally drawn in gate three and maps to settle back in this field and fitter for that first-up win, looks the testing material again in this contest.
Race 10: No.15 Magna’s Choice
The Trevor Andrews-trained galloper is second-up here and looks well placed in the big field to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Irish-sired gelding resumed after more than six months off the scene when he did well to beat all but one home, here over 1200m with Steven Parnham in the saddle.
From gate seven, he settled back in the field, caught four wide to the turn before scouting even wider and finished strongly in the run home, arriving in time to grab the silver medal in the race.
Facing BM66 company here, he draws gate five and maps to settle mid-field or better with Parnham in the driver’s seat again.
Dropping 2kgs from his first-up effort and already a winner when second-up, a trouble-free run here should see him hard to hold out in this contest.
