Race 6: No.10 Mosgiel Crystal
The Matt Robinson-trained galloper has been thereabouts in each start this time in and fourth-up today should be ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Sebring Sun mare stepped-up in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a Class 2 Hcp over 1400m at Taree.
Teighan Worsnop settled her near last to the turn, then ran into traffic and was held up until halfway down the straight before finally getting clear and did well to finish just behind the placegetters that day.
Dropping back to BM58 company here, she draws barrier eight and maps to settle back in the field with Ben Looker aboard for the first time.
At her peak after three runs back, the four-year-old only needs a clear run home and should be there at the finish of this contest.
Race 7: No.3 House Of Cards
The Brett Dodson-trained galloper is in winning form and looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding showed a ton of improvement off his first-up effort when he claimed victory in the Casino Cup over 1400m.
Grady Spokes settled him back in the field to the turn before tracking wide and nearer the outside fence, stormed home to grab victory right on the line.
From gate four today, he maps to do no early work and settle near mid-field with Spokes in the saddle again.
The step-up to the 1500m looks ideal for him here and although carrying a little more weight, he is already a winner when third-up and fitter off those two runs back, the six-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.5 Grey Effects
Colt Prosser saddles-up Grey Effects here who has found his mojo and looks poised to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Puissance de Lune gelding surprised punters when he unwanted in the market ($41), he came off an unplaced effort at Grafton and took out a BM64 Hcp over 900m at Newcastle.
From a wide draw, Lee Magorrian settled him second-last in the field to the turn, then sticking to the inside, secured clear passage to the line and finished over the top of them, going on to score by more than a length on the line.
Facing BM74 opposition here, he draws gate seven and maps to settle back in the field with Magorrian steering the ship again.
Fourth-up and at his peak today, the six-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
