Race 5: No.12 Caxton Lass
The Robert Heathcote-trained galloper is three starts into this preparation and looks ideally placed for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Capitalist mare kept on improving when third-up as she claimed her second win in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at the Gold Coast.
Ron Stewart settled her one pair back off the speed before throwing down the challenge in the run home and doing best in the end to claim a narrow victory in the race.
At her peak tonight, she gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling with Stewart at the helm again for this assignment.
Boasting a strong record at the Corbould Park track, the five-year-old looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Brooklyn Daisy
Mark Currie makes the trip up from Toowoomba and saddles-up Brooklyn Daisy here who boasts a good record at the track and fourth-up tonight, looks a genuine winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Trapeze Artist mare came within a whisker of victory when she finished a close-up second in a BM62, here over 1300m with Dan Moor in the saddle.
Settling second, one off the fence without cover, she travelled well to the turn before challenging for the lead and in a three-horse battle to the line, fought on strongly to claim the silver medal in the race.
Down in grade tonight, Moor sticks with her as she draws the fence and maps to be box-seating on settling.
At her peak after three runs back, the four-year-old is already a winner here and sporting winkers for the first time tonight, looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 7: No.7 Perri Lass
Having her second start for the Chris Anderson stable, Perri Lass is second-up tonight after a year off the scene and looks a genuine winning chance at odds in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Pierro mare made her long awaited return to racing after 12 months in the paddock when she wasn’t disgraced finishing mid-field in a BM58, here over 1400m with Damien Thornton in the saddle.
From a wide draw, she settled back in the field and in the run home, made up some ground without being a threat to victory that day.
The five-year-old steps-up to a more suitable 1600m tonight and has Corey Sutherland as the new pilot for this assignment.
Drawn out in gate nine, she maps to settle back in the field and take a sit with cover.
Carrying 2kgs less after the claim and fitter for that first-up effort, she looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
