Looking to start the day with some value where the Scott Singleton-trained galloper is two starts into this preparation and looks set to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the King’s Legacy gelding showed plenty of improvement when he beat all but one home in a Class 1/Maiden Plate, here over 1600m.
Jay Ford settled him fourth on the fence where he trailed the leader to the turn, then in the run home, chased valiantly but was unable to run down Sweet Justice, taking home the silver medal in the race.
The two clash again here with the Singleton gelding meeting Sweet Justice 2.5kgs better at the weights.
From gate nine, he maps to push forward and cross to settle in the first half-dozen with Mikayla Weir back to ride after steering him to his maiden win last preparation.
Already a winner when third-up and placed on this track, he lines-up here well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Starverna
Lou Mary saddles-up Starverna here who is high-flying after three starts and looks well placed here for another top-shelf performance in this event.
Last start, the Star Turn filly made it three-straight podium finishes when she beat all but one to the line in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Dubbo.
On a Heavy 9 that day, she jumped from the outside gate (11) with Braith Nock settling her back in the field to the turn, then tracking wide she stormed home but gave them too much start and had to settle for second prize in the end.
Drawn much better in gate five today, she maps to settle back in the field with Nock steering the ship again for this assignment.
Meeting similar company, she steps-up to the 1200m and at her peak, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Copperline
The Scott Singleton-trained galloper is unbeaten in two starts this preparation and ticks the boxes that suggest the hat-trick can be achieved in this event.
Last start, the Sebring Sun gelding made it back-to-back victories when he took out a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1100m.
Backing-up off his maiden win, Mikayla Weir settled him outside the leader before throwing down the challenge on straightening where he proved too strong in the run home, going on to take first prize.
From gate seven today, he maps to be up near the speed with Weir retaining the ride for this assignment.
Winning form is good form and with a trouble-free run here, the three-year-old looks the one to beat in this contest.
