We have the best bets picked out from across the day with value selections for Sandown Racecourse.
Sandown Race 1 No. 5- Khabalov
Khabalov can get the job done in the opener. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper has had the three career starts and went close to breaking through at Sandown on August 21 over the 1500m when attempting to lead all the way. He went at an even tempo out in front before just being grabbed late by Stylish Secret. The son of Russian Revolution fought on strongly and should be at peak fitness now to go one better.
Sandown Race 4 No. 9- Lowlands
Lowlands is a solid player in Race 4 at Sandown. The four-year-old destroyed her rivals at Sale two starts ago to claim her Maiden before rising to a BenchMark 64 at Sandown on August 14 and finishing runner-up behind Sparkling. That came over the 1200m and she closed off in solid fashion to go more than seven lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. The slight step up in trip looks to be in her favour. Jamie Kah will look to land in a midfield spot and the pair will be hard to hold out at the business end.
Sandown Race 8 No. 12- Sunset Dreaming
This looks to be a winnable race for Sunset Dreaming. The four-year-old was luckless when resuming with a runner-up performance at Caulfield in late July over the 1100m before tackling that distance again at the same track and placing 3rd behind A Little Deep. She was back that day in a race that developed into a sit-sprint. The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained galloper should be better suited over the 1300m and should be right at her peak at what will be her third run of her current preparation.
