Randwick racing takes place on Saturday, June 8, with the 11-race program set for the NSW metro meeting.
We have the best bets picked out from across day with value selections for Randwick Racecourse.
Race 5: No.4 Destiny’s Delight
The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper didn’t take long to find her best form since resuming and looks a genuine chance of bringing up the hat-trick here.
Last start, the Proisir mare made it back-to-back victories when she made light work of a Heavy 10 track rating and after finding the front on straightening, went on to beat home a BM72 field over the mile at Warwick Farm.
With Dylan Gibbons aboard, she settled outside the leader and always travelling well, looked at home in the boggy conditions.
Gibbons remains in the saddle for this assignment as the former NZ mare steps up to BM78 level here and carries just a half-kilo more than last start.
She draws nicely in gate four and maps to settle just behind the speed as she shoots for her second win over the 1600m trip.
The five-year-old ticks plenty of boxes here and looks well worth an each-way ticket at very generous double-figure odds.
Race 7: No.3 Gravina
The Matt Dale-trained galloper is third-up here and the track specialist should be ready to produce his best in this event.
Formerly with the James Cummings stable, the Sebring gelding was beaten just half a length when second-up, he finished third in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) at Scone.
International jockey, Louis Beuzelin was aboard that day (having just recently arrived in Australia) and has the honours again for this assignment.
The six-year-old is already a winner third-up and 11 starts at Royal Randwick have produced three wins and six minor placings so he knows his way around this track.
He is also a winner in Listed company and placed three times at Group 3 level.
If he can cross and settle near mid-field (from gate 15) with cover, he has the form on wet tracks to be finishing on strongly in this contest.
Race 8: No.4 Hosier
The Newcastle-based galloper is third-up here and back on a wet track, looks all set to return to his best form here.
Last start, the Camelot gelding drew the car park (gate 15 of 16) and was never in the hunt when finishing down the track in the Listed Scone Cup over 1600m.
Trapped three-wide without cover to the turn, there was nothing left to give, on a track that was the better side of a Soft 5 that day.
Blake Spriggs was aboard for that event and sticks with the seven-year-old here, despite his poor showing last start.
The bay gelding is already a winner when third-up and all eight career-wins have come on wet tracks, suggesting he will be right at home here on the forecast Heavy 8 for this meeting.
He is a two-time winner at Randwick and boasts victory in black-type company by taking out the Group 3 Premier’s Cup, here over the 2000m trip.
Drawn much better here, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with plenty of early speed drawn inside him.
In the wet conditions here, we should see a vastly improved effort from him and (currently) at double-figures, he looks an excellent investment for this contest.
Race 10: No.15 Ruby Flyer
The Brad Widdup-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and looks ideally placed here to give this contest a real shake.
Last start, the Flying Artie gelding settled too far back in the run and despite running home strongly, couldn’t make up the ground and had to settle for third prize in a BM94, here over 1600m.
Dylan Gibbons is the new pilot for this assignment where the five-year-old does little to no early work after drawing well in gate three.
Already a three-time winner on wet tracks, conditions will be ideal for him and boasting three victories over the 1600m journey already, he should feel at home over the Randwick mile in this event.
Coming in just 1kg over the limit, he looks well treated at the weights here and with a trouble-free run, should prove hard to hold out.
