Race 7: No.2 Ohope
Michael Freedman saddles-up Ohope here who is high-flying this time in and looks well placed here to continue the good work in this event.
Last start, the I Am Invincible colt landed his second win in four starts when he took out the Listed Tapp-Craig over 1400m at Rosehill.
Tommy Berry settled him in the back half of the field before finding the front inside the final 100m and going on with it to score by almost two lengths on the line.
Stepping-up to Group 2 level for the second time here, he appears much more settled in Sydney and has Jason Collett returning for his second ride on the three-year-old.
He draws well in gate four and maps to settle better than mid-field with cover.
Yet to miss the podium in four starts this campaign, he will take beating in this contest.
Race 9: No.3 Miss Roumbini
The Price & Kent-trained galloper is in top-shelf form and third-up here, looks set to ring-up career win number six in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Zoustar mare was most impressive when finishing second in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield.
Jumping from the car park in gate 13 (of 15), Beau Mertens settled her at the tail of the field before setting the best closing splits and arriving in time to grab the silver medal, beaten less than a length on the line.
Seeing the Randwick track for the first time here, she draws gate seven and maps to settle better than mid-field with cover with Adam Hyeronimus as the new pilot for this Group 2 challenge.
Already a winner when third-up, she has success at the 1400m trip previously and with a clear run to the line, she looks a genuine contender in this contest.
Race 10: No.11 Les Vampires
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained galloper is second-up and ticks the right boxes to suggest he can figure here at big odds in this event.
Last start, the Pierro gelding resumed off a 21-week absence and clearly in need of the run, finished unplaced in a BM94, here over 1200m.
Carrying top weight of 62kgs, he was never likely over the 1200m trip where he settled back in the 15-strong field and couldn’t go with them in the run home.
The step-up to the 1500m here looks ideal for him now and from gate six, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover.
Regular rider Adam Hyeronimus returns to steer the ship and already a two-time winner when second-up, looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
