Pakenham racing takes place on Friday, October 30, with a competitive meeting set down for the popular Victorian venue.

Here are our best bets from the Friday night meeting, which follows the action from Kilmore

Race 7 No.3 – Ganarcho

Ganarcho can go close in Race 7 at Pakenham. The five-year-old has had two runs this preparation and has closed off well in both. He resumed over the 1400m at Bendigo and was unlucky when held up at a vital stage before running on for sixth behind Regal Might. He then stepped up to the 1700m at Warrnambool and again worked home nicely from the back to finish fifth, beaten just over two lengths. He should be nearing peak fitness at his third run back from a spell and wouldn't mind seeing him settle a little closer to the speed. He performed well at Pakenham last preparation, placing in three of his four outings at the track, generally when racing handy. Brad Rawiller takes the ride and Ganarcho looks good value at the quote.

Race 8 No.8 – Empressive Enuff

Empressive Enuff can break a lengthy winning drought in the final race at Pakenham, a Benchmark 62 over the 1400m. The veteran galloper is approaching 18 months without a win but has placed at both runs this preparation. The first of those came behind Naziah on the Pakenham Synthetic, with that galloper subsequently winning its next start. He then settled on the speed at Cranbourne and stuck on well before fading late to fill the minors behind Renarson. He improved significantly on benchmark figures at the corresponding stage of his previous preparation, while the campaign prior saw him place third-up at Pakenham before producing two consecutive wins, including one at Flemington. He draws barrier 11 but there doesn't appear to be a great deal of early pressure drawn inside him, which may allow him to roll forward without burning too much energy. If he can find a position near the speed, he should be able to stick on strongly at the end of the 1400m.
