Pakenham Racing Tips for July 6 – Duntulm Lass hard to beat on the Synthetic in Race 5
- Just Magic (Race 1) ready to improve and challenge for the win.
- Duntulm Lass (Race 5) boasts best benchmark figures and fine form.
- Double Pi (Race 9) drops in grade, well placed for a strong late run.
Pakenham racing takes place on Monday, July 6, with a program set down for Pakenham.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.
Race 1 No.8- Just Magic
Just Magic can go close in the opener. The filly from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy camp has had the two starts, battling on debut at Kilmore before showing improvement when switching to the Pakenham Synthetic last time, placing 3rd behind Hyper Ballad. She was held up on a series of occasions in the straight and should have finished a tad closer. The daughter of I Am Invincible will strip fitter at her third run and the small step up to the 1200m looks like it will suit. She should be hard to hold out at the business end.
Race 5 No.7- Duntulm Lass
Keen on Duntulm Lass in Race 5. The three-year-old has found her groove since switching to the Synthetic, scoring here in Maiden grade two starts ago before running on and just missing out behind Hulkster last time in a BenchMark 62 over the 1600m. She was forced back from the awkward draw in that race and closed off with the fastest late splits to land half a length off the winner. The daughter of Toronado comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner in this race and might settle a tad closer this time around with Thomas Stockdale to ride.
Race 9 No.8- Double Pi
Double Pi should find this easier than recent runs. The Moody/Coleman mare drops from a couple of BenchMark 70 races, coming off a last start 4th when lining up on the Synthetic for the first time at Pakenham on June 15. The 5th horse out of that has since claimed a BM74 at Sandown, while the 6th horse home took out a BM62 here a couple of weeks ago. She draws wide for this and will get back on an even tempo. With the 3kg claimer, Bree Temple, to ride, she should be hard to hold out late in the piece.
