Oakbank Racing (ALLSPORT)
Oakbank racing takes place on Saturday, April 19 with a 9-race program set down for Oakbank racetrack.
- Race 2: No.1 Sir Now
- Race 4: No.5 Party Crasher
- Race 9: No.2 Been Our Angel
Race 2: No.1 Sir Now
The Darryl Hewitt-trained Sir Now is yet to miss a top-two finish after seven starts and looks ideally placed here to keep that record intact.
Last start, the Sir Prancealot gelding chalked up win number three when he took out a Class 2 Hcp over 1000m on the Morphettville Parks track.
With Connor Murtagh aboard, he was box-seating on settling and simply finished too strong in the end.
Margaret Collett has ridden the three-year-old to victory twice previously and returns here in search of a third win.
Nicely drawn in gate four, he maps to be possibly box-seating again and in his current form, looks the best investment of the day in this contest.
Race 4: No.5 Party Crasher
Michael Hickmott saddles-up Party Crasher here who has impressed in both starts to date and looks ideally placed for back-to-back victories in this event.
Last start, the Ocean Park gelding went one better than his runner-up debut performance when he claimed victory in a Maiden Plate over 1600m at Strathalbyn.
He sat outside the leader and showed plenty of dash to go on and win by almost two lengths on the line.
Todd Pannell was aboard for both events and remains at the helm for this assignment.
Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle near the speed and on the fence where he will get first crack at the front runners in the run home.
He can only strip fitter with two runs under his belt and looks to be the testing material in this contest.
Race 9: No.2 Been Our Angel
The Travis Doudle-trained galloper has been in great touch this campaign and having his third start for the stable, looks well placed off city form to give this event a real shake.
Last start, the Harry Angel gelding made it consecutive runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1000m at Morphettville Parks.
Drawn gate seven (of ten), Ben Price had him crossing to lead soon after barrier rise and was travelling well until he was grabbed late by a swooper, putting three lengths on the third placegetter in the race.
Nicely drawn in gate three here, he maps to settle right behind the early pace with Connor Murtagh legged aboard for his first ride on the four-year-old.
With a trouble-free run and clear passage to the line, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.
