Ascot racing takes place on Saturday, April 19 with a 9-race program set down for Ascot racetrack.
- Race 1: No.4 Black Ora
- Race 4: No.9 Ocean Goddess
- Race 9: No.7 Jaz Session
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Ascot racetrack.
Race 1: No.4 Black Ora
The Adam Durrant-trained Black Ora has returned in great touch and second-up here, looks the testing material in this event.
Last start, the Playing God filly resumed off a 13-week spell when she clobbered her rivals over 1200m at Pinjarra on the Scarpside circuit.
With William Pike at the helm, she was box-seating on settling before taking over in the run home and going on to win by more than two lengths on the line.
She takes on three-year-old Open company here where she drops 4.5kgs and has Pike in the saddle again.
Nicely drawn in gate four, she maps to be parked just behind the speed again and fitter for that first-up win, she looks primed for back-to-back success in this contest.
Race 4: No.9 Ocean Goddess
The Jessica Carbery-trained Ocean Goddess is second-up here and showing plenty of upside, looks a genuine winning chance at odds in this event.
Last start, the Playing God mare resumed off a 13-week spell and impressed with an eye-catching third in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1100m.
After settling sixth, she ran home strongly (clocking the best race sectionals), arriving in time to grab the minor prize, beaten a length on the line.
Shaun O’Donnell is legged aboard for the first time here and although drawn out (in gate nine), the four-year-old will settle back in the field anyway and save her best for the run home.
She gets a weight advantage here, dropping 4kgs from her first-up run and provided she keeps in touch with them early, a big finish looks on the cards.
Race 9: No.7 Jaz Session
Justine Erkelens saddles-up Jaz Session here who has built a picket fence alongside her name with a hat-trick of wins and now looks set for another victory in this event.
Last start, we labelled the Sessions mare as our best of the day and she didn’t disappoint when she clobbered her opposition, here over 1200m with Shaun O'Donnell in the saddle.
Eventually settling outside the leader, she took control on the turn and went on to record a comfortable win, running a zippy 1:09 flat for the 1200m.
This BM66 looks no harder and from gate six, she maps to settle near the speed again with O’Donnell sticking with her for this assignment.
She is a two-time winner at Ascot already and in career-best form this time in, looks the best of the day again in this contest.
