Race 2: No.1 Manoora
The Brett Robb-trained galloper has returned in top-shelf form and looks ideally placed for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Merchant Navy mare resumed after 18 months off the scene and on fresh legs, destroyed her rivals in a Maiden Plate over 1000m at Dubbo.
Izzy Neale had her leading from the outset and on straightening, found another gear and raced away to score by more than five lengths on the line.
Facing Class 1 company today, she maps to be on the speed from gate six with Neale steering the ship again for this assignment.
A repeat of her first-up effort here should see the four-year-old claiming another winner’s cheque in this contest.
Race 6: No.6 Hellcibell
Team Cavanough saddles-up Hellcibell here who has done everything but win this preparation but gets her chance to turn things around in this event.
Last start, the Hellbent mare stepped-up in distance and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in a Fillies & Mares Hcp over 1400m at Grafton.
Mikayla Weir settled her third, one off the fence, tracking the leaders into the straight and in the run home, battled on gamely to collect the minor prize for the race.
Meeting open company again today, she draws well in gate seven and maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Mitchell Bell returning for the ride, in search of his third win on the mare.
In good touch this time in, the six-year-old looks a serious chance of snagging her first win for this campaign in this contest.
Race 7: No.11 Varuni
The Team Archibald-trained galloper returns to racing today after ten months in the paddock and off recent trials, looks set to make an impact in this event.
Last start, the Tagaloa filly ended her first campaign in style when she claimed her first win by taking out a Maiden Hcp, here over 1280m.
Sent out a white-hot ($1.50) favourite, Reece Jones settled her in the one out, one back slot to the turn, then on straightening, took control and under hands and heels, went on to score by almost two lengths with plenty to spare.
Returning to work recently, the filly has trialled twice, finishing a close-up second in her most recent hit-out.
On fresh legs today, she gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling with Rory Hutchings aboard for the first time.
A trouble-free run here against BM58 opposition can see her going back-to-back in this contest.
